Drilling Machine and Hoist Registration
Minnesota Statutes, section 103I.545, and Minnesota Rules, part 4725.1800, require that all drilling machines and hoists be registered with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). The registration runs concurrent and is renewed annually with the contractor license/registration. The registration fee is $75 per year for each drilling machine or hoist. A registration card is issued for each drilling machine or hoist and must be carried on the equipment at all times. Decals, which must be affixed to the drilling machine or hoist, are issued with each registration. Registration cards and decals are not transferable.
When registering a drilling machine or hoist, you must provide information on the make, model, type, and serial number of the equipment as well as information on the make, year, and title number or vehicle identification number of the truck or trailer carrying the hoist or drilling machine. Other pieces of equipment often used in well or boring work, such as water trucks, service trucks, and grout mixers, are not eligible to be registered with the MDH.
