The Public Health Laboratory

A division of the Minnesota Department of Health

The Public Health Laboratory keeps Minnesotans safe and healthy through our three sections:

Environmental Laboratory banner, with lake and trees
Infectious Disease Laboratory banner, with virus illustration
Newborn Screening Program banner, with newborn baby
  • Environmental Laboratory: Information for clients, including forms, guides and policies.
  • Infectious Disease Laboratory: Resources for clinical submitters, including forms and a Test Catalog. This section also encompasses the Minnesota Laboratory System (MLS).
  • Newborn Screening Program: Information for parents and health care providers, including how to order educational materials and screening cards.

The Environmental Lab also collaborates with the Infectious Disease Lab’s Emergency Preparedness and Response program to constitute Laboratory Emergency Preparedness, which ensures the capability to respond rapidly to public health emergencies.
