The Public Health Laboratory
A division of the Minnesota Department of Health
The Infectious Disease Laboratory Guide to Services has moved to The Infectious Disease Laboratory Test Catalog (https://labinventory.web.health.state.mn.us/#/). Please bookmark the new Test Catalog page. Guide to Services pages will be removed in the future.
The Infectious Disease Lab has updated our test offering guide (Test Catalog) to better serve our partners by providing clear, up-to-date specimen submission information. The Test Catalog now includes information regarding specimen acceptability criteria, shipping, average turnaround time, IDL test methodology, and background information about the test.
The Public Health Laboratory keeps Minnesotans safe and healthy through our three sections:
- Environmental Laboratory: Information for clients, including forms, guides and policies.
- Infectious Disease Laboratory: Resources for clinical submitters, including forms and a Test Catalog. This section also encompasses the Minnesota Laboratory System (MLS).
- Newborn Screening Program: Information for parents and health care providers, including how to order educational materials and screening cards.
The Environmental Lab also collaborates with the Infectious Disease Lab’s Emergency Preparedness and Response program to constitute Laboratory Emergency Preparedness, which ensures the capability to respond rapidly to public health emergencies.
