Amendment to Rules Governing the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC Program)

Updated: 1/31/2024

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is considering amendments to rules governing the WIC Program. This planned amendment responds to changes in the federal law and regulations that substantially revise the way WIC foods are provided to WIC participants, including use of electronic benefits transfer (EBT) (“e-WIC”) system, reduction in WIC administrative burden, and addresses other technical changes or issues that may arise during the rulemaking process.

The WIC Rule was last modified in 2009.

For more information about the rule-making process at MDH, please refer to: MDH Rulemaking.
