Registration for MDH Trainings
Registration for on-demand learning is held in the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Learning Center. Each individual staff member will need to log in or follow the instructions to create their own account and register for a prerecorded webinar or training.
NOTE: When registering in the MDH Learning Center, please include the name of the organization that you work for and your professional role. (RD, RN, WIC CPA, PEER, etc.)
To Locate Trainings: Log on to the MDH Learning Center and search keyword “WIC” to view and register for available trainings. Detailed information about the training can be found on the registration page.

Description: Building on the PCS Champions webinar held in October, we will further develop our PCS skills and explore techniques to assist other WIC staff in skill development. This webinar is recommended for staff who have worked in WIC for at least six months. Please consider attending even if you didn’t make it to the first webinar.

- Identify novel techniques to effectively perform WIC assessments and counseling.
- List resources available for PCS Champions.
- Practice PCS skills.

Description: Join us for an engaging webinar focused on enhancing nutrition education strategies to promote positive health impacts. Our speaker, Melissa Nelson, will examine ways that WIC staff can leverage critical thinking to navigate complex situations and tailor nutrition education. This session will explore techniques for developing high quality individual nutrition care plans for participants who meet the Minnesota WIC Program High Risk and Medical Referral criteria, discuss detailed approaches to providing breastfeeding education, and provide an opportunity to refine skills to create a meaningful difference in the lives of WIC participants!
Objectives:
- Use nutrition assessment data and critical thinking to prioritize and individualize high risk nutrition care plans. nutrition care plans.
- Determine best approach for providing education on breastfeeding, medical formula, and anticipatory guidance based on participant needs.
- Document nutrition education in a manner that promotes continuity of care.
- Assess and adapt care plans based on participant progress and feedback.
