Clinical Guide to Services
The Clinical Guide to Services is a comprehensive reference guide of testing services, shipping information, and submission requirements for Minnesota’s Infectious Disease Laboratory.
Even though there are ongoing efforts to keep information current, some information may not be up to date due to recent changes in testing procedures and/or regulation. Many of these tests are only available with prior approval from the Minnesota Department of Health.
If you cannot find what you are looking for in the guide, please Contact the Infectious Disease Laboratory.
- List of Tests: This guide outlines most of the tests that can be performed at the Infectious Disease Laboratory and their specimen requirements. Some tests may not always be available, while others are for research purposes only.
- Specimen Packing and Transport: Estimated turnaround time begins when the Public Health Lab receives the specimen, not the date of shipment or courier pickup.
The Infectious Disease Laboratory is composed of five laboratory units: Enterics, Microbiology, Sequencing and Bioinformatics, Virology/Serology, and Emergency Preparedness and Response. See our Units of the Infectious Disease Laboratory page for more detail.
Specimens may be referred to the CDC or another lab for further testing.
