In a busy medical practice, it can be challenging to implement the latest evidence-based guidelines consistently. CDC: Prevent Group B Strep App for Obstetric Providers simplifies implementation of the latest guidelines for prevention of GBS disease. Newborn and obstetric providers will be prompted to input specific clinical information (a maximum of 12 questions) and receive patient-specific GBS management recommendations at the point-of-care.

Consistent with the 2010 Guidelines for the Prevention of Perinatal GBS Disease, Prevent GBS was developed with and endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

How do providers use it?

Just select a portal, obstetric or neonatal, and answer questions about a patient. The app provides specific guidance based on the scenario entered. Concerned about choosing the best prophylaxis option? The app provides easy access to the appropriate antibiotic regimens for obstetric patients requiring intrapartum prophylaxis—all from a mobile device or computer. The app will also be available for Android devices in the future.
