Demographics

MDH collects data on county, age, race/ethnicity, sex assigned at birth, and gender identity (including whether someone identifies as transgender) when following up on positive MPX cases. We are using sex assigned at birth and gender identity to more fully capture the impact of disease on transgender Minnesotans. However, MDH is not sharing gender identity data at this time. Case counts broken down by gender identity are currently very low and are being reviewed before being shared publicly to protect the privacy of individuals and to ensure completeness of the data.
